Our team members' minimum technical requirements are in line with our Operations manual, which meets or exceeds current industry standards. To ensure that team members attain and retain their qualifications and progress within the organisation, we conduct a professional development program. All technical training is aligned to national accredited training, NOLRS (National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme).

Terry Hewett
Director
Terry is one of Adventure Out’s founding instructors. He maintains an involvement with all facets of the company's operations whilst working predominantly with corporate clients in a facilitation and coordination capacity as well as our trekking programs. Terry spent ten years with the Special Air Service Regiment in a variety of roles including the development of highly functional teams.
Terry is a past president of the Climber’s Association of WA and past president of the Adventure Industry Association of WA, founding president of Outdoors WA in 1999 - the peak body representing adventure outdoor interest in Western Australia, past member on the committees of the WA Parachute Council for the Sporting Skydivers Club of WA, Deparmentt of Environment and Conservation’s Cave Management Advisory Committee and a past president of Outdoors WA - the peak body representing adventure and outdoor activity needs in Western Australia.
Terry holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is a National Outdoor Leadership Registration Scheme (NOLRS) accredited Abseiling and Climbing Instructor and Bushwalking Guide. Terry has also completed a Diploma of Outdoors Recreation.
Brayden West
General Manager
Brayden joined the Adventure Out team over 9 years ago. He has over 12 years experience, having studied extensively as an outdoor educator and facilitator; combining technical knowledge and vast practical skills to maintain the highest safety standards whilst ensuring the maximum experience for all clients.
Brayden has undertaken the management of Paintballing, Education, and Operations and Logistics, and believes in a hands-on approach in all areas of the business. His passion and drive for the outdoor industry has seen him assist with the writing of the Adventure Activity Standards for the State of Western Australia and he has sat on the Technical Working Committee for the water component.
Brayden is a National Outdoor Leadership Registration Scheme (NOLRS) accredited Abseiling Instructor and also holds a level 2 Australian Canoeing Instructor qualification. He has completed a Certificate IV of Outdoor Recreation, specialising in bush walking, roping, caving and water activities (kayaking and canoeing). Brayden was an active board member of Outdoors WA, the peak body for Outdoor Adventure.
Jonathan Marshall
Education
Jonathan is our newest addition to the Adventure Out team. He has over 10 years experience in the outdoor industry, working in education, recreation, corporate and industry training/development. Jonathan started his career by studying a degree in Outdoor Leadership and Education in the United Kingdom.
Over the years since his study, Jonathan has worked in many countries in various environments from cold mountain ranges to hot deserts as an instructor and guide. Jonathan settled in Australia 5 years ago to work as a program leader and staff trainer for the Outdoor Education Group in NSW and Victoria on their extended education programs. These programs ranged from 2 to 18 day wilderness expeditions. During this time he worked in partnership with TAFE as a trainer on both Cert IV and Diploma Outdoor Recreation courses.
Jonathan has also worked with Wilderness First Aid Consultants delivering their first aid courses from a 2 day to a 10 day Wilderness First Responder.
Jonathan has a huge passion for outdoor education, he seeks to combine all his skills and experiences to ensure his students/ clients have a true adventure. This passion and his experiences have given him a well refined approach to education and he continuously seeks knowledge and skills to heighten the experience he can offer.
Jonathan has a BA (Hons) Outdoor Leadership in addition to UK Mountain Leader Training Board qualifications as a Mountain Leader and Single Pitch Climbing Instructor, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Wilderness First Responder and many more specific industry qualifications.
Teresa Hook
Operations
Teresa joined the AO team in 2006 as the Administration/Recreation Coordinator. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (Sports Administration & Commercial Law) from Curtin University and was awarded Best Graduting Student in 2006.
Teresa quickly became a valuable member of the team, taking on the day-to-day running of the office along with bookings and managing recreation. After a 12 month sabbatical in 2008-2009, Teresa returned to the AO family as the Operations Manager and now looks after the logistics and operations of AO along with staffing programs and assisting on programs. Teresa is blessed with the ability of multi-tasking and keeps everyone on their toes.
Ralph Gurr
Organisational Development
Ralph is committed to facilitating organisational development and change via human resources development strategy and initiatives. Born in Western Australia, Ralph commenced his successful career as a secondary school educator before progressing to small business and consulting. His education qualifications have been supplemented by studies in Business, including a graduate degree in Human Resources Management and a Masters degree in Business Administration, in addition to extensive personal learning and an incomplete graduate degree in Health Science.
Ralph has combined his consulting work with part time teaching at Edith Cowan University (Faculty of Business and Public Management – School of Management) and Monash University, where for ten years he has achieved excellent evaluation reports and feedback from staff and students alike. Courses taught include Management, Training and Development, Organisational Development, Organisational Change, Organisational Behaviour Recruitment and Selection, Strategic Management and Human Resources Management to undergraduate, post graduate, masters and international students.
The combination of academic qualifications and life experience provides Ralph with an excellent base from which to facilitate client-based staff development. His personal and interpersonal skills combined with friendly disposition have enabled him to establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people and customers.
Kelly Bali
Recreation & Administration
Kelly joined Adventure Out in early 2010. With a background in administration, fitness and customer service, she is well suited to her role and is a welcome addition to the team. Kelly is dedicated to providing quality service to our adventurers as well as promoting the importance of 'pushing your limits,' both physically and mentally.
Diana Blacklock
Trek Logistics
Diana joined the Adventure Out team in 2010 as our Trek Coordinator and has taken to the role with the same passion and enthusiasm that she has for trekking in the outback. Diana's love of walking with a back pack creates a sense of wellbeing and excitement, a feeling she wants to share and encourage others to experience. She also has a strong commitment for the environment and the bush and these values carry through to her role and work at Adventure Out.
Jessie Waters
Administration Assistant
Jessie joined Adventure Out in September 2010 as a Casual Climbing Gym team member. She joined head office in March 2011 to develop her skills in business administration while finishing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UWA. Jessie has a penchant for vertical challenges, writing and is always keen to give everything a go.
Suzzanne Laidlaw
ActionCOACH
Suzzanne has a passion for inspiring people to turn their dreams and ambitions into reality, drawing personal strength from a solid background of 25 years within key business management roles and a rainbow of life experiences. She founded and directed Laidlaw (Aust) Pty Ltd, (1989 -2003) becoming the catalyst to her focus today on Business Coaching, Wellness and Life Balance. Over the past 5 years Suzzanne has coached many individuals, business owners, managers & CEO’s to achieve their goals & beyond.
Suzzanne has worked with Adventure Out on corporate programs as a key facilitator over the past 5 years. Our strategic alliance is designed around our clients getting the most out of their learning. ActionCOACH is a world leader in Business Coaching. The role of the Business Coach is to coach business owners to improve their business through guidance, support and encouragement. Business coaching helps owners of small and medium sized businesses with their sales, marketing, management, team building and so much more.
